Author Guidelines
Ilalang: Journal of Integrative Linguistics, Applied Language, and Language Learning welcomes original research articles, review articles, and conceptual papers that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in linguistics, applied linguistics, language education, and language learning. Authors are required to follow the guidelines below when preparing and submitting manuscripts.
1. Manuscript Types
The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:
- Original Research Articles: Reports of empirical studies based on qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method approaches.
- Review Articles: Critical reviews and analyses of existing literature related to language studies.
- Conceptual Articles: Theoretical discussions or new perspectives that contribute to the development of linguistic and educational theories.
2. Manuscript Requirements
Submitted manuscripts must:
- Present original work that has not been published elsewhere and is not under review by another journal.
- Be written in clear academic language.
- Follow appropriate research methodologies and ethical standards.
- Include sufficient references from relevant and recent scholarly sources.
- Provide a clear contribution to the field of linguistics, applied linguistics, or language learning.
3. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should generally include the following sections:
- Title: Concise and accurately represents the content of the article.
- Author Information: Full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses of all authors.
- Abstract: A brief summary of the study, including background, objectives, methods, main findings, and implications.
- Keywords: 3–5 keywords representing the main topics of the article.
- Introduction: Background, research problems, objectives, and relevant literature review.
- Literature Review/Theoretical Framework (if applicable): Relevant theories and previous studies supporting the research.
- Methodology: Research design, participants/data sources, instruments, procedures, and analysis methods.
- Results and Discussion: Presentation and interpretation of research findings.
- Conclusion: Main conclusions, implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research.
- References: Complete list of cited sources using the required citation style.
4. Formatting Requirements
Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the following requirements:
- Manuscripts should be submitted in an editable document format.
- The recommended length is approximately 4,000–8,000 words, including references.
- Use consistent academic formatting throughout the manuscript.
- Tables and figures should be numbered, titled, and properly referenced in the text.
- References and citations should follow APA Style (7th edition) or the journal’s specified citation style.
5. Submission and Review Process
All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Each submission will undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a peer-review process to evaluate its quality, originality, relevance, and academic contribution.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- The manuscript complies with journal requirements before submission.
- All authors approve the final version of the manuscript.
- Necessary ethical approvals are obtained for research involving human participants.
6. Author Ethics
By submitting a manuscript to Ilalang, authors confirm that:
- The work is original and free from plagiarism.
- All sources and contributions are properly acknowledged.
- There is no simultaneous submission to other journals.
- Any conflicts of interest are disclosed.
- The data and findings are reported accurately and responsibly.
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
- All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
- Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
